A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT

Prepare for your
strategic review.

A short checklist to help you describe the matter and make the first discussion more useful.

You do not need a complete case file to make an initial inquiry. Start with a general description. Once the engagement and document exchange arrangements are established, the following information can help organize the review.

  1. Identify the notice or issue

Note the sender, notice title, tax periods, entities involved, and dates shown. Keep original correspondence and envelopes.

  2. Outline the sequence of events

Prepare a short timeline of correspondence, filings, conversations, requests, and actions already taken.

  3. Explain your priorities

Describe what is most pressing: understanding an adjustment, responding to an examination, reviewing a settlement position, or addressing collection activity.

  4. Identify your existing advisors

Tell us who is already involved and what role you would like SGW to play.

  5. Organize the records for the next step

Keep notices, returns, supporting records, and relevant financial information organized by period and entity. Share them through the document exchange process established for your matter.
